TGMC - CARBON MAST
Build Coordination
Chantier de L'Atlantique has developed the SOLID SAIL and the AEOLDRIVE wind propulsion solution for maritime industry. The goal is to reduce the global impact of cruise ship and maritime shipping industry. This sailing solution has a big potential to reduce greenhouse gas emission in a compatible time frame with the global warming challenge.
The Sail and the Mast are made out of composite carbon and glass fiber. Chantier de l'Atlantique doesn't have the composite manufacturing knowhow therefore the yard asked to five companies based in french britany to build the composite parts. Multiplast was in charge of the Solid Sail, and Avel Robotics, CDK, Lorima, Multiplast and SMM were in charge of the mast build. This group of usually competitor in the industry decided to work together and to formalise their union into a consortium created for and with Chantier de l'Atlantique.
Mobius has been chosen to coordinate the work done by these five companies in order to succeed in the first mast build of this type. The mast is high end, 20 tones, autoclaved carbon fiber product. It's 65 meters long. Mobius France has been coordinating the work done by these five companies from the tool design up to the mast delivery.
It is an honor for Mobius to be coordinating the build the carbon mast and to provide expertise in the new plant design.
